Field Trip? Trip?

1st October is BVT 312's last lab practical aka field trip~

Practical : Field efficacy of mosquito coil, mat and liquid vaporizer against night-biting indoor mosquitoes in living premises in the tropical environment

This field trip is conducted in a residential area in Ujung Batu, Butterworth, Penang~

Each group was given a task in different premises to test on different formulation's efficacy. My group was in charged in mosquito coil =/

After the lab assistant had found a premise for us to test on, we entered the house and greeted the house owner~ a mak cik was happily welcoming us

While we're exposing our "beautiful leg" to bait the mosquitoes (BLC- Bare Leg Catch technique), mak cik gave us some kuih raya and milo ais to enjoy~ lol ~ this was not a boring and tiring field trip after all =P After the kuih raya, mak cik even fried some pisang goreng for us!! Along with sirap ~~ Thank you so much mak cik ~~~ ^0^ The mak cik even said, if we told her earlier that we're coming, she will make laksa!!! awh~~~ sayangnye~~ we missed it XD

My group members were wondering......is this a field trip??? What're we doing actually? -_-"

We even watched Mr. Bean show at her house *lol and sweat*

Luckily, we still managed to catch a few mosquitoes to pass up "homework" =P

Repellent? Non repellent?

Last few lab (a bit too long ago =P) we've tested the efficiency of mosquito repellent products on Aedes aegypti mosquitoes~

The mosquitoes were starved from blood feed for a few days before the experiment =S , which means, they're dying for blood~~~~~ hiak hiak

~Methodology~ Left hand was free from mosquito repellent, right hand has been sapu with mosquito repellent~ very obvious huh~ left hand was full with mosquitoes!!! *shocking*

Let's have a closer look on the left hand (without repellent)~~~ feel pity for Eng Hua (the hand's owner) it's full with mosquitoes!

The Final Destination 4

4th September, 8 of us (coursemates) went for movie!! The Final Destination was just onscreen and we're so excited to watch it. On the morning, my housemates (also coursemates~ lol) went to buy the tickets first. It's a midnight movie which started on 11.30pm o_O

According to my housemate, watching horror movie at midnight is fun!! =.= Somemore, this month is July in Chinese calendar....which mean.......ehem

Final Destination 4, is a 2009 3-D supernatural thriller/horror film written by Eric Bress and directed by David R. Ellis, both of whom also worked on Final Destination 2. It is the fourth installment to the Final Destination film series, and the first of which to be shot in HD 3-D.

From plane crash (FD 1) to highway crash (FD2) and then roller coaster crash (FD3), FD 4 is now performing race car crash ~~~

After the movie, it's around 1am in the next morning. We are not calling it a day yet =P Instead, we're heading for yum cha at the mamak stall ~ ehehe ~ talking, sembang-ing, chit-chating till puas, we just decided to go back home ~ we all are surely night ghosts XD

私の趣味

Last few week my teacher asked us to write a short essay "My hobby". Sounds like a primary school essay huh~ childish XD ~ but it's in Japanese of course >_<

This is my essay....guess what've I written? =P　(quite childish =.=)


私の趣味はネットサーフィンです。パソコンを使うことができます。私はノートパソコンがあります。二年前に買いました。毎日ノートパソコンを使います。時々起きてから、歯みがきの前に、パソコンをつけます。ネットで、いろいろな活動をすることができます。例えば、小説を読んだり、映画とドラマを見たり、ゲームをしたりします。ゲームでメイプルストーりーが一番好きです。いろいろな物も探すことができます。資料や、歌や、買い物などがあります。ネットでMSNすることもできます。私は毎日寝る前に、友達と家族にMSNをします。パソコンは私の大切な宝です！

International Day

10th August 2009 was USM's International Day at Pusat Bahasa aka Sollat =.="

Have visited many stalls : Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai.....

While I was standing at the Chinese notice board and reading the article, a Malay come over and asked me whether I understand Chinese o_O then I say "ya, have been studied since kinder garden" Then she asked me to answer a few questions, to pronounce a few numbers or sum of money into pinyin =S (eg, RM1001, 4765, RM3.50.....) *sweat* my pinyin is not that good though -___-ll Then I went to the calligraphy part. A student from China gave a piece of paper to me and my friend and we started to write our name XD ~ (our writing is bad, never practise after our PMR =( )

Japanese stall has calligraphy part as well~ so I just passed by and looked around...didn't stay long in this stall -_-

Next is the Korean stall, had met a friend from Korea at there. She was jaga-ing the booth and helping people to write their Korean name. After greeting, she asked me whether I want to get my Korean name as well, so I just say ok~~ =P

I spent the longest time on Thai stall (ein: thank me oh XD ) visited a friend of mine. Sat down and chat. Fed me a few spoons of Thai char kuey tiao, took a few pictures then we cabut already ~ hiak hiak

~Insect Time~

In mid July, my course had a field trip to Kampung Tepi Laut, Penaga, Penang at night....to do what?? To catch mosquitoes~ =P

2 methods were used to catch the mosquitoes, 1st - BLC (Bare Leg Catch) , the most sacrificing one T_T we had to expose our leg and waiting for the mosquitoes to come. Then we'll catch it by using a test tube~ Unfortunately (fortunately perhaps?) not much mosquitoes wanted to come over my leg -____-" was my blood not tasty enough to bait them?

2nd method - CBT (Cow Bait Trap). This time, we went into a mosquito net which has trapped a cow inside. The cow was used as a bait to attract the mosquitoes. After they took blood meal and rest on the net, it's our time to catch them! This method is much more efficient than the first one~ LOTS of mosquitoes are being sucked by using an aspirator.

My group has also taken a picture with the cow...but until now I still don't get the soft copy of the picture ==" haiz..

Next lab is the glass chamber & peet grady chamber method to test the bio efficiency of mosquito mat...sayang..no picture was taken. but I still managed to take the 3rd experiment, the testing of aerosol on cockroaches!!~~ Aerosol was sprayed on a plat wood and female cockroaches were released. Time started and the time of cockroaches knocked down was noted down~

~A few minutes after the releasing~ only 1 cockroach was down

~After 1 hour~ all cockroaches terbalik =S

JLPT !!

Am going to take a Japanese-language Proficiency Test this December ^_^ ~ if not mistaken, it's on a day after my birthday tim =S

Hopefully I can pass la (lv 4 only~ the lowest lv =.=) ~ =P have paid money for it leh~

Aih... so long didn't update blog ~ almost forget about it >_<

Few weeks ago, I've offered (cheated) to attend a seminar held in my campus. The seminar was at 8.30am ~ bazir my sleeping time sia. At first I thought this seminar is related with my course......but...... 事实却不是如此 =.=ll 我完全被炸到了。。

This seminar was a so called motivational seminar and the whole day was talking about "sustainability!!!" "transform!!!"

*sweat* *lots of black lines falling down from my forehead*

In fact, my mouth had actually buka so big after the "surprise" ~~ lol ~~

Honestly, I was not paying attention during this seminar~ too boring and too wu liao perhaps =P

I think the only good thing about it (to me) was.....free breakfast and free lunch provided XD~~

For those who think that this seminar is interesting and is good.....Don't marah me ya >_<

Final exam of 2nd year 2nd semester is officially ended today~ Jz finish my last paper,minor paper, Organizational Behaviour at about 4.15pm (walk out fr exam hall 1 hr earlier~ lol ) Have been study like hell for it on previous few days >.<

Many mini maini mo answer though~ pls la, how I suppose to know the exact percentage for each of the survey that was conducted =.=ll ~ and many topics cant remember well.... aw...forget it ~ now is Happy Hour!!!

However, I gona start my intern life start from 4th May =(

Jz left a few more day for me to enjoy ~ But nevermind la ~ it's still in Alor Star anyway ~ still can stay at home ^_^

V&P gathering Part 3 ~ 电影篇

After finished our meal and taking perasan photos, somebody suggested to go for a midnight movie~ As the time has already passed 10pm, there was no more rapid bus for us to take back. Since the only driver, Eng Hua himself wanted to stay back for movie, all of us have to stay back as well..Haha~~ The price for him is, 3 turns of fetching all of us back to our hostel (too many people >.<) However, later on, one of us(can't remember is who already) accidentally found one red colour piece of paper (with portrait of Tunku Abdul Rahman printed on it) on the floor in front of GSC when we went to buy tickets ~ that made our rides free ~ =P We passed the red thing to Eng Hua as a pay for the petrol XD~ (we're so evil ! )

We've chosen the comedy movie, Paul Blart : Mall cop. They movie will start on 11.35pm~ since there still had some times, we visited the arcade game centre beside GSC. We're having fun playing the drum thing (paise, dono what it's called , but for those who have watched Nodame Cantabile and if u can recall, it's more or less same as the drum thing game that Masumi forestalled Chiaki to play the 'Purigorota' song during their farewell) The players can PK each other, and I vs Eng Hua~~ I won most of the rounds ^^V (thanks to o2jam~)

After that, we went for movie. The movie was quite good. It was hilarious ~Lol~ The movie finished at around 1++ am. We decided to call it a day. Eng Hua fetched us back one group by one group...... that ended our 2nd year 2nd sem uni life with coursemates~

After we've taken our dinner and finished socializing, it was time to take pictures!! =D

Vector group was still the VIP ~ All of us were taking 'family photo' together ~ Sayangnye Yen Ting didn't come on that night =( or else it'll be complete family members already...So, just 9 of us took the photos at Breeks. The 2nd group is from the Agrobiology group~ 4 of them were having photo shots at the next table (we've conquered the best seat ~nice big sofa cushion~ =P)

The rest of the 2 (Biotech & Microb) were taking photos together at another side as well ~

Right after that, ALL of us took the 'ultimate family photos', using Song Quan's super pro camera.

All of us were posting and doing crazy stuffs like acting cool and making scary faces ~lol~ it's fun...Haha!! This might be a way to release ourselves from tension =P

V&P gathering Part 1 ~ 食物篇

Since some of us(excluded me) have finished the final exam, a gathering of Chinese students from Biology and Management of Vector and Parasite (what a long course name) has been held on 24th April 2009 before going back hometown. This gathering have also included some agrobiologists, 1 biotechnologist and 1 Microbiologist~A total of 15 people, who are, 9 from V&P including myself (Yen Ting was absent =( ), 4 from Agrobiology, and 1 from Biotechnology and Microbiology respectively. At first they wanted to hold the gathering at a malay mamak stall nearby Queensbay Mall. But it was raining heavily outside on that time so we just cincai find a restaurant inside QB~ So...we headed for Breeks~~!!!

Fortuitously, Fish Leong's new album promotion(签唱会) was held on the same time in QB mall as well. Everybody was sooooo wanted to see the popular star. We've spent about 15mins at there, standing and listening to her new song...Lol ~ When we reached the cafe, it was 8pm + already.

After we've ordered our food, socializing began!!~~~~ I've ordered a hot plate chicken chop which costs RM13.90, with a RM1 add on for a 'soup of the day' and a dessert, a mocktail called Spa Sampler which costs RM8.50.
